ED School Climate Survey

Evaluates student and family needs as well as school improvement activities and program effectiveness. The information from the EDSCLS is integral in the School Comprehensive Improvement Plan (SCEP) process. The EDSCLS will be administered district-wide to school administrators, teachers, and non-instructional staff in buildings serving students in grades K-12, as well as all students in grades 5-12 (lower grades are optional this year for the first time).

Parent and staff surveys are anonymous and student surveys will be confidential.

Donate to the Montessori Food Pantry!

The MCA and the Peace Team are working to collect donations for our Montessori Food Pantry in November and December.

Sick Child Guidelines for Parents If your child gets sick, it is often most appropriate to keep him/her home from school.  A child who is sick will not be able to perform well in school and is likely to spread the illness to other children and staff.  Please make arrangements for childcare ahead of time so you will not be caught without a place for your child to stay if he/she is ill.

  • School Policy Our school policy states that you should not send your child to school if he/she has:

  1. Fever in the past 24 hours

  2. Vomiting in the past 24 hours

  3. Diarrhea in the past 24 hour

  4. Chills

  5. Sore throat

  6. Strep Throat (must have been taking an antibiotic for at least 24 hours before returning to school).

  7. Bad cold, with a very runny nose or bad cough, especially if it has kept the child awake at night.

  • Your Child Becomes Ill at School If your child becomes ill at school and the school nurse feels the child is too sick to benefit from school or is contagious to other children, you will be called to come and take him/her home from school.

    •  It is essential that your child’s teacher have a phone number where you can be contacted during the day and an emergency number in the event you cannot be reached.

    • Please be sure that arrangements can be made to transport your child home from school and that childcare is available in case of illness.  If your daytime or emergency phone number changes during the year, please notify your child’s teacher immediately.

    • These guidelines are meant to serve the best interests of all the children in our school.

Sign Up & Access the Parent Portal

Also, all BPS parents have a parent portal account, but in order to get access, a parent must activate the account first.

Follow the link at the button to sign in, or sign up. Once activated there are steps to download an app for your phone, if you like.

Evolv “Weapons Detection” System Up & Running

Beginning on Wednesday, May 31st, all students and staff will be required to enter the school via the front, downstairs Clinton St. entrance and walk through the new sensor technology system. Students can walk through at their normal pace, the system uses low frequency radio waves (ELF) similar to what is placed at the doors of stores.

If you’ve been dropping off your student at the Cedar St. side entrance, keep doing that! Teachers and staff will be there to walk/guide students around the building to the front Clinton St. entrance.

Questions? Concerns? Email Principal Jenn - jstockmeyer@buffaloschools.org

Please have your children remove the following items when entering the building (or consider leaving them at home): iPads, Laptops, Binders/trapper keepers, Umbrellas, Metal water bottles, Multiple chargers, Glucose monitors, Bookbags with built-in metal features, Eyeglass cases, Cluttered bags
