According to the recent information disseminated by the New York State Department of Health, most COVID19 restrictions have been lifted. We will keep this page updated with the latest information we have. As always, if a student is sick, the safest place for them to be is home! If you are unclear on what to do regarding an illness or possible exposure, please contact the student’s physician and/or our school nurse, Nurse Kim at (716) 816-4603 ext.1119.


How have the rules changed for the 2022-2023 school year?

We will keep this list updated when and if mandates and requirements change.

  • Screeners - not mandated

  • Temperature checks - not mandated

  • Masks - individual preference, not mandated

  • COVID-19 Surveillance Testing - optional and currently awaiting information from ECDOH to establish testing provider

  • Weekly testing of unvaccinated - NO LONGER REQUIRED

  • NYS COVID Report card - no longer required

  • Isolation rooms - no longer required

  • Sick students - report to nurse for evaluation; nurse will determine if student needs to go home

  • COVID-19 positive individuals - Keep socially distant from others in clinic until sent home; provide a mask to be worn; MUST isolate for five days at home, and should wear a mask to school for days 6-10 following their positive test

  • Visitor policy - NO COVID specific restrictions

  • Field Trips - NO COVID specific restrictions

  • New York State is not currently mandating the COVID vaccine for school attendance, but is highly recommended

  • Social Distancing is no longer required (except for a COVID-19 positive individual)

  • Contact tracing/letters to school community is no longer required


Is your child vaccinated? Please send the information in!

All children are now eligible for vaccination! If your child has been vaccinated, please take a photo of their vaccination card and send it to Nurse Kim at kdanderson@buffaloschools.org.
