“Community Means We Are One”
Family and community engagement is a foundational principal of Montessori, believing that a strong partnership between parents, teachers and the child creates a cohesive learning environment that supports the child’s development. It is also recognized by the Buffalo Public School District as a critical component to student success. Both Bennett Park Montessori and the BPS, through the Office of Family & Community Engagement (FACE), offer various opportunities for active engagement in the BPMC and BPS community.
Engage with BPMC:
Volunteer at BPMC: Offer to volunteer in your child’s classroom, chaperone a field trip or connect with our Parent Engagement Liaison (PEL) and/or MCA Officers to learn about other volunteer opportunities. All volunteers must submit a district volunteer form and receive an approval prior to volunteering.
Visit the BPMC Parent Room (Room 12): Access Montessori reference materials and learn more about our school. Arrangements can be made with our Parent Engagement Liaison (PEL).
Attend a Classroom Event: Many classrooms host “family days” or other events where family members are invited into the classroom for a special demonstration, celebration or to do activities and crafts together. A volunteer application and approval may be required to attend.
Visit your Child’s Classroom: Requests to observe your child’s classroom or to join for a special celebration (birthdays) can be made directly with your child’s teacher.
Attend a Montessori Community Association (MCA) Meeting or Event: all are welcome!
Attend a School Based Management Team (SBMT) meeting: SBMT meetings take place monthly. All are welcome!
